Introducing the Product Purchase Filter and Its Use Cases
Learn how to use the new Product Purchase Filter to segment customers, target promotions, and improve retention in your studio.
What is the Product Purchase Filter?
The Product Purchase Filter is a powerful new feature that allows you to identify and segment customers based on their purchase history. Whether you want to upsell memberships, offer exclusive discounts, or personalise communication, this filter helps you reach the right audience at the right time.
Why is this important?
Until now, you could only segment customers based on their past visits or future bookings. But providers told us that the most reliable way to understand a customer’s journey is through their purchases. This filter now allows you to create targeted messages based on what products a customer has purchased or has not purchased.
How can you use the Product Purchase Filter?
🔍 Key Use Cases:
1️⃣ Upsell & Retention
- Find customers who purchased a trial offer and convert them into regulars with a discount for a membership.
- Example: "Who purchased ‘March Special Offer’ and has already visited? Let’s offer them a discount for a 10-class pass!"
2️⃣ Re-engagement
- Target users who bought a drop-in but haven’t returned to encourage repeat visits.
- Example: "Who bought a drop-in in the last 30 days? Let’s send them an exclusive deal for a block card!"
3️⃣ Onboarding New Members
- Welcome new members with onboarding content and special perks.
- Example: "Who purchased a membership in the last 7 days? Let’s send them an email about member-exclusive benefits!"
4️⃣ Optimise your communication through targeted exclusions
- Reach people who have not yet purchased a Membership or a trial card.
- Example: "Who hast not purchased a membership in the last 2 months, but has used another product? Let’s send them an email about member-exclusive benefits!"
Step-by-Step Guide to Applying the Filter
1. Open the Customer Filters
➡️ Go to your Customer List in your Marketing Tab and click on Filters --> New filter set --> Purchased Products.
2. Choose a Product
➡️ Decide if you want to look for products that have been purchased or products that have NOT been purchased. Pick multiple services or memberships you want to filter by and click "Apply the filter".
Please Note:
Selecting multiple products mean that the filtered customers have purchased at least one(!) of those products; it does NOT necessarily mean that they have purchased ALL of them.
3. Add a Timeframe (Optional)
➡️ You can filter by when the product was purchased/not purchased (e.g., in the last 7 days).
✅ Click "See Results" to get a list of targeted customers!
💡 Pro-Tip 1: Combine multiple filters.
For example, customers with a trial session but no membership and no booking in the last 30 days. This way, you'll reach exactly the people who really deserve a reminder or a special offer!
💡 Pro-Tip 2: Assign Tags to your filtered customers.
This helps you to better identify and target your customers. You can filter your customer overview and your marketing contact list by tags to send a message or export customers.
